"I gave up my profession a good few years ago to realise my dreams and work full-time as a painter. I have a passion for light and colour and all its nuances. My trips abroad have been a great font of inspiration and my main luggage becomes my palette. In my still life paintings, I try to make the objects speak volumes with the use of colour and hot tone and by simplifying form endeavour to make subjects seemly immoveable take life. My larger landscapes I paint in my studio from sketches. I often use pure colour, squeezed directly from the tube in an impasto style. The smaller landscapes are painted en plein air in an impressionistic way. My portraiture tends to be more realistic. My aim is to capture the viewer by the intensity of my subject's expression, in particular their gaze."
